Faculty of Science Education Awards 2019 – Student Impact Awards 

Nominations are now open for the Faculty of Science Student Impact Awards. Nominations should be sent via this link by the closing date (2-page maximum).

If you have any further enquires, please email sci-education@monash.edu. Nominations will be assessed by the selection committee appointed by the Dean in consultation with the Associate Dean (Education).

Award Categories

These awards recognise and celebrate the achievements of Science students in a wide range of areas from academic performance through to service to the community. This is an excellent opportunity to nominate students who deserve recognition for their exceptional efforts and achievements for any of the following categories;

1. Community Spirit Award
Students are nominated by one of the Science-based clubs for their contribution to the student and staff community in the Faculty of Science.

2. Young Science Leader Award
Students may self-nominate, or be nominated by another student or staff member, around the broad category of leadership. This may include:

  • Social inclusion
  • Social justice
  • Enterprise
  • Efforts towards charitable or not-for-profit groups

3. Academic Culture Award
Students may self-nominate, or be nominated by another student or staff member, around the broad category of ‘academic culture’. This may include:

  • Initiative supporting fellow students academically
  • Collaborating with staff to improve/design curriculum assessment

4. Science Communication Award
Students may self-nominate, or be nominated by another student or staff member, around the broad category of science communication. This may include:

  • Cultivating a science-based blog
  • A popular micro-blogging or social media science profile
  • YouTube or other website activities with broad readership/engagement
